Tallore

Rarely do I get to step outside the four walls of my school building on a weekday, but just as luck would have it, I had a certification meeting and found myself in Sheung Wan. Who knows why I chose this narrow street that had really become a construction site, but thankfully I did because I found Tallore. To me, it’s almost like a Panera Bread, but with less options.  Still, just as piping hot and tasty! I ordered a salad (half couscous, half caesar) and broccoli potato soup as take out to enjoy. It definitely hit the spot on a cold, winter day!

Applegreen

Applegreen is located right below it’s sister restaurant, R&B, both of which are right around the corner from my flat.  Convenient, affordable, and light, I try to get my healthy meals in from this salad house.

The salad half portions are big and the full portions are GINORMOUS!  The appetizers are really tasty.  I didn’t enjoy the pasta…after all, this is the house of SALAD.

What I really love is the Guac and Chips…don’t know whether it’s because if I’ve been deprived of Tex-Mex for too long, but it’s all really fresh and delicious.

Enchanted Garden

Would I love to spend 90 minutes of my life taking pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto all the while stacking heaps upon heaps of food onto my limitless plates? Yes please!!

With a time limit, I found that my tablemates and I were racing back and forth, trying to get food to stuff our empty tummies…but not on the expense of missing out on a photo opt with one of the classic Disney characters!

The friendly Disney characters only stop by your table once, so if you miss them, you’re SOL…or you can chase them down, but they don’t seem to like that quite as much.

The food was actually not too shabby.  The spread consisted of a wide variety of international cuisines…Indian, American, Chinese, Italian, Japanese…you name it! Of course it’s not comparable to one of the high-end hotels, but hey, Enchanted Garden’s limitless brunch only cost half of what it would be at the W or Intercontinental.  I will say, I did find myself going back for the cod and sea bass over and over again!

Toast Box

Toast Box is a chain restaurant around town known for having typical Singaporean and Malaysian food options.  On the menu, you'll find Kaya toast, Laksa, Nyong Yang, Pandan cake, Hainan Chicken, Nasi Lemak, and much more.  The set menu allows you to select a main entree and a drink...all for less than $50.  I call that a win-win situation!

I highly recommend the made-to-order milk tea! After watching the lengthy process of brewing and straining the tea a few times, it is then blended with condensed and evaporated milk, giving it just the perfect sweetness and silkiness!

Evident through the multiple successful locations and bustling crowds within, Toast Box fares well with the people of HK!  Now a fan of this popular cafe/bakery, I'll be back to try the famous toast (loaded with tons of butter...) and pandan cake!

Caffe Habitu

This cafe was convenient to eat at since it was only a 5 minute walk from my apartment, but honestly, it wasn't memorable.  I'm actually writing this entry a few months after I went, and I didn't even remember being there until I came across pictures of the food and menu! It wasn't terrible though...just very...blah. Maybe it's because I ordered salad...

Rose Latte - eh

Chicken Caesar Salad

Iced Roselle Honey Tea

Proscuitto Eggs Benedict? I can't remember :(

Figo's

Soon after settling in, my friend Stacey invited me a luncheon with some of her friends who live in Discovery Bay.  We dined at Figo's, a restaurant nestled among others with a seaside view.  Gorgeous.  But just like the previous post, I refrained from taking pictures of all the food since I was a guest...and didn't want to shamelessly click away.  Well, maybe I sneaked in one :)

It was tasty except for the fact that there was (in my opinion) too much Gorgonzola in the risotto.  Keep in mind, I am, in no way, a food critic nor do I have a refined palate.  I'm just a self-proclaimed foodie who wants to share a little bit of deliciousness that Hong Kong has to offer! Enjoy!

Cafe R&C

Cafe R&C was one of the first few restaurants/cafes I visited in the beginning of this journey.  Although it was a sweltering 100 degrees outside (or so it felt), I opted for a hot, matcha green tea latte.  Why?  For the latte art, of course!  It is a small, cozy cafe that was much appreciated after a long, hot walk.
