Enchanted Garden

Would I love to spend 90 minutes of my life taking pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto all the while stacking heaps upon heaps of food onto my limitless plates? Yes please!!

With a time limit, I found that my tablemates and I were racing back and forth, trying to get food to stuff our empty tummies…but not on the expense of missing out on a photo opt with one of the classic Disney characters!

The friendly Disney characters only stop by your table once, so if you miss them, you’re SOL…or you can chase them down, but they don’t seem to like that quite as much.

The food was actually not too shabby.  The spread consisted of a wide variety of international cuisines…Indian, American, Chinese, Italian, Japanese…you name it! Of course it’s not comparable to one of the high-end hotels, but hey, Enchanted Garden’s limitless brunch only cost half of what it would be at the W or Intercontinental.  I will say, I did find myself going back for the cod and sea bass over and over again!

Forestry

Shop til you drop is no joke.  After being on our feet all day, we were ready to find a place to plop down and sit.  Of course, Hong Kong doesn't have any benches or chairs inside their malls (hence, people just chill and NAP at Ikea for this reason).

We were just in time for an afternoon tea, and I have never had high tea in HK before.  Forestry came to mind, and my cousin led the way, as we escaped the crowds of Boxing Day and navigated through the Page One bookstore to arrive at our destination, Forestry.  The cafe is spacious and very white...it may be furnished by Ikea.  Nonetheless, we were relaxed and well rested as we sipped our afternoon tea and ate the very tiny but tasty finger foods.

High Tea for 2 was enough for the 3 of us

Lots of room with lots of white chairs
English Breakfast Tea

Finger Foods of savory and sweet

So Thai So Good

The name of the place says it all....it is SO GOOD! My cousin heard about this Thai fusion hotspot that just opened in Miramall.  We had no idea what we were in for!  There is a wide variety presented in the menu...and they even start the menu out with drinks and desserts (this place knows how its done)!  Once the food came out (which was in less than 15 minutes), I stopped talking altogether because I was just so busy eating! As Schwarzenegger puts it, "I Will Be Back"...with an empty stomach!

Starter - Salmon Tartare with Toast Crackers (YUM)
Starter - Souffle with Seafood Bisque (light with excellent flavor)
Soup - Traditional Tom Yum Goong (its got a nice, strong kick to it)
Salad - Pomelo Salad with Fried Calamari (the flavors all blended well together)

Carbs - Seafood Fried Rice with Coconut Milk (so fragrant and delicious)

Veggies - Green Beans with Minced Beef and Waffle

Tokuoki Beef Shabu Tabehoudai

ALL YOU CAN EAT SHABU SHABU?! Sign me up! Drinks, veggies, sides, noodles, meat...you name it! If they have it the restaurant, it's fair game! Only rule?  You only get 90 minutes to eat and you must order the same type of meat and soup bases as others in your party.  The price varies dependent on the quality of the meat.  After 90 minutes of eating, I definitely had a food baby...or two.

Toast Box

Toast Box is a chain restaurant around town known for having typical Singaporean and Malaysian food options.  On the menu, you'll find Kaya toast, Laksa, Nyong Yang, Pandan cake, Hainan Chicken, Nasi Lemak, and much more.  The set menu allows you to select a main entree and a drink...all for less than $50.  I call that a win-win situation!

I highly recommend the made-to-order milk tea! After watching the lengthy process of brewing and straining the tea a few times, it is then blended with condensed and evaporated milk, giving it just the perfect sweetness and silkiness!

Evident through the multiple successful locations and bustling crowds within, Toast Box fares well with the people of HK!  Now a fan of this popular cafe/bakery, I'll be back to try the famous toast (loaded with tons of butter...) and pandan cake!

Godiva Chocolatier

This entire entry is dedicated to Godiva's Rich Chocolate Ice Cream.  I'm not sure if rich is part of the name, but it should be.  It is so decadent, but I like to indulge every now and then, so I'm not complaining! After queuing for about 10 minutes, I finally got ahold of this heavenly goodness.  It was a bit dense but not as dense as Ben and Jerry's.  It was definitely sweet but not as sweet as Baskin Robbin's. It was not too big (like Cold Stone's) or too small (like any gelato joint).  I could even compare it to Marble Slab or Blue Bell's, but that would be a sin.  Don't take my word for it; go find your nearest Godiva and begin licking away!

Caffe Habitu

This cafe was convenient to eat at since it was only a 5 minute walk from my apartment, but honestly, it wasn't memorable.  I'm actually writing this entry a few months after I went, and I didn't even remember being there until I came across pictures of the food and menu! It wasn't terrible though...just very...blah. Maybe it's because I ordered salad...

Rose Latte - eh

Chicken Caesar Salad

Iced Roselle Honey Tea

Proscuitto Eggs Benedict? I can't remember :(

Mochi Sweets

What's better than mochi?  How about a mochi filled with cream/mousse?? They have a wide variety of flavors, and they even label it (in case you receive a box with Durian mochi and are not a fan)! It makes for a nice gift or even an excellent, portion-controlled dessert.  The only downfall is that it must be consumed within 24 hours (but that means it's fresh)!

I never got the chance to take a picture of the inside because my relatives eat it faster than I can whip out my iPhone. It's my go-to gift if I can't think of anything else to buy! Just believe me when I say it's delicious!

Even children look them!

Tai Ping Koon

Can you say souffle the size of your HEAD? Bet you, you can't! This is what Tai Ping Koon is known for....that, plus the Swiss sauce chicken wings, roast pigeon, and Chinese pan fried flat noodles (Hor Fun). Just talking about this meal is making me salivate! Founded back in 1860, this gem has been serving up its finest.  The Chui family has been running this restaurant for over a hundred years...good, I don't want anything to change.  Especially that souffle!

It seems as though we gobbled up the Chinese pan fried flat noodles before I could snap a pic.  Oops!

Roasted Pigeon

Swiss Sauce Chicken Wings

Ox Tongue with Veggies (can't remember the actual name)
